President Bola Tinubu has approved the indefinite suspension from office of AbdulRasheed Bawa, as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.

A statement on Wednesday by Willie Bassey, a Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), said Bawa’s suspension followed weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

Bawa was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the anti-graft agency, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the EFCC pending the conclusion of the investigation.

His suspension is coming barely few days after Godwin Emefiele was suspended from office as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by President Tinubu, and his subsequent arrest and detention by the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
