The leadership of the APC Voice of Progressives Youths has urged President Bola Tinubu and the National Working Committee of the party to zone the 10th deputy senate presidency seat to the North-Central zone.

The group noted that not ceding the position(deputy senate presidency seat) to the zone, would amount to marginalizing the North-Central geo-political zone which performed creditable well in the last election for the party.

According to the group, the North-Central zone deserved the deputy senate presidency while endorsing Senator Musa Sani, a top-ranking senator, from Niger East Senatorial District in Niger State as the best choice.

The Chairman of the group, Abubakar Bagwai while addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Sunday, urged President Tinubu to wade into the matter with a view re-address zoning arrangement of the party to accommodate the zone(North-Central).

Bagwai, flanked by other national executives of the group, drew the attention of President Tinubu to the fact the North-Central, delivered four out of the six states in the zone for the APC during the last presidential election as needed to be compensated.

He urged the President and the leadership of the party to do something for the North-Central for the sake of national unity, inclusiveness, justice, and fairness, saying that not ceding any position to the North-Central in the 10th Senate, was a grave miscalculation on the part of the party.

He said, “We, the APC Voice of Progressive Youths, want to draw the attention of Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Working Committee towards, the miscalculation and lack of balancing in the zoning arrangement of 10th National Assembly leadership by the APC.

“Mr President sir, there is no wisdom and logic in rewarding failure while overlooking hard work, loyalty, and performance. Sir, there’s a need to be tactical in sharing the 10th National Assembly leadership position. National Unity, inclusiveness, justice, and fairness are very important and must be considered.

“The composition of the National Assembly without the North Central is going to be a serious miscalculation and political blunder for both the government and the party.

“Therefore, at this juncture, we are advising Mr President to use his political skills and dexterity to balance the equation by including the North Central and making sure that no zone is left out in the sharing of position in the National Assembly.

“There is a need for a tested and trusted senator from the North Central to occupy the position of Deputy Senate President, and there is no better candidate than Senator Sani Musa (Niger East).

“In conclusion, we hope that Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Working Committee will see reason and review the zoning arrangement and zone the Deputy Senate President to North Central.

“We equally call on the Senators Elect to support and vote for Senator Sani Musa (Niger East) from North Central for the sake of fairness, justice, inclusiveness, and national unity.”
