Egyptian Public Prosecution has said that Hanaa Hassan, a 29-year-old woman who allegedly hacked her five-year-old son, Youssef, to death with a machete and ate parts of his head after cooking it has no mental disorders.

Hassan was charged to the criminal court to stand trial for the planned murder of her son after she allegedly killed him by hitting him on the head three times with a metallic object.

She was arrested while trying to bury the rest body parts she had chopped into bits.

Investigation revealed that the suspect killed her son to prevent her former husband and family from communicating or getting legal visitation rights for Youssef.

Also, she was discovered to be of sound mind without being influenced by drugs or alcohol, which may affect her mentally, Daily Mail reports.

Hassan confessed that she had eaten part of her son’s head because she “wanted him to stay with her forever.”

According to the lawyer of Hassan’s ex-husband, Samir Mohamed Saleh, the suspect showed no emotion when she told the police in Faqous, “I wanted to free him and myself.”

She said, “I wanted to take revenge against his father and be free. His father keeps coming and trying to take him away all the time.”
