In a move signalling the end of an era, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday dissolved his cabinet, marking a crucial step as the nation prepares for the upcoming May 29 inauguration.

This also signals an end to the eight-year tough era of the Buhari-led administration for millions of Nigerians.

Buhari is expected to hand over the Aso Rock Presidential Villa to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, May 29.

The dissolution of the cabinet is seen as a strategic move by the President to pave the way for the new administration to make potential changes in ministerial positions.

Buhari had earlier directed all the ministers to hand-over all official documents to permanent secretary of their ministry before attending the last valedictory Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held today.

The development comes as no surprise to Nigerians, as it is customary for an outgoing President to dissolve the cabinet before commencement of a new administration.

This move is aimed at ensuring a fresh start and providing the incoming President with the opportunity to assemble a new team that aligns with his vision for the next phase of governance.
