Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emerged the party’s candidate for the forthcoming November 11, 2023 off-cycle governorship election in Imo State.
METROWATCH learned that Anyanwu emerged the PDP flag-bearer during the party’s primary election held on Wednesday at the PDP state secretariat along the Okigwe Road in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
A statement endorsed by the State Organising Secretary, Lawrence Biado, said the primary was monitored by the seven-man electoral panel constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) headed by Kenneth Okon.
With his emergence as the main opposition party’s candidate, Anyanwu is expected to challenge the re-election of incumbent Governor Hope Uzodimma of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
