Management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), in Edo State, has condemned the brutal killing of a final year male student of the institution by unknown gunmen Monday night on campus.
metrowatchxtra, yesterday, broke the news of the sad killing of the student identified as Desmond Rukevwe Emuobonuvie, alias, Mayor, right inside his room in one of the halls of residence on campus.
It was gathered that the deceased was the head of popular social group, Kegite, on campus. The incident took place past 9pm midnight in the popular Hall 3 unisex hostel at the Ugbowo main campus.
While comisserating with the family and colleagues of the murdered student, the UNIBEN Management enjoined other students to be calm “as the Police as well as other Security Agencies are working hard to fish out and arrest the culprit.”
In a statement endorsed by the Institution’s spokesperson, Mrs Benedicta Ehanire, early Tuesday morning, she said, ”Management is also working closely with the internal security units in ensuring that such dastardly incident does not occur again within the University’s premises.”
