In Lagos, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, beat the All Progressives Congress’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Obi received 582,664 votes against Tinubu’s 541,850.
Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos state, is widely regarded as the state’s political godfather.
Despite winning more local governments, Obi beat Tinubu with the majority of votes cast.
The results of all 20 local governments have been announced. Tinubu won 11 local governments, while Obi won nine.
Tinubu was elected to local governments in Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, and Mushin.
Obi on the other hand won Eti-Osa, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Alimosho, Ojo and Somolu.
The final results would be announced by the Returning Officer for the state, Professor Adenike Oladiji shortly.
