President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan has lost his polling unit to Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during today’s presidential and national assembly elections.

Lawan, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), failed to deliver his party’s flag-bearer, Bola Tinubu, at the Katuzu primary school polling unit 001B, Gashua, in Yobe State.

While APC’s Tinubu scored 107 votes, PDP’s Atiku won the unit with 186. The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) came third with 41 votes, with Labour Party (LP) scoring just 1.

Earlier, the Senate President after casting his vote, expressed confidence that the presidential candidate of his party, Tinubu will win the election.

Lawan who is currently contesting to return to the Senate for sixth term, is, however, believed to have won his polling unit under the national assembly category.
