The Labour Party’s Peter Obi has received the support of the National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) as their candidate for the presidency of Nigeria.

The declaration was made on Tuesday by a group of Christian elder statesmen from all around the nation, including retired General T. Y. Danjuma, a former Army leader.

The prominent people encouraged security officials to be cautious when considering rumors that some areas were getting ready to erupt in violence.

Because “a sick country demands healthy leaders,” the NCEF urged Nigerians to choose candidates based on their competence, honesty, and physical health.

The Forum Chairman, Dr. Samuel Gani, and the Secretary, Pastor Bosun Emmanuel, issued a statement backing Obi with the title “Resolutions towards 2023 elections: Think fresh.”

The body highlighted the necessity to safeguard democracy and eradicate the culture of corruption, incompetence, lawlessness, and impunity during the last 24 years as justifications.

The National Christian Elders Forum is endorsing Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party as the Presidential candidate to be voted for,” the leaders said.

The leaders emphasized the need for new leaders, new strategies, new laws, and new political parties in Nigeria and applauded the Federal Government for its efforts to stop vote-buying.

The forum stated that although the currency shift strategy has caused some difficulty to the populace, the long-term advantages would be valued.
