Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed grief and sadness over the passing to eternal glory of the President-General of the Supreme Council of Sharia’h in Nigeria (SCSN), Sheikh (Dr) Ibrahim Datti Ahmed.
In the words of the former Vice President and Waziri of Adamawa: “From Allah, we come, and to Him we shall return. Sheikh’s time has come, and he has heeded the ultimate call. May Allah grant his soul Al-jannatu Firdaus”.
Atiku Abubakar said Sheikh Datti’s passing has left a huge vacuum in terms of wise counseling at a time the nation is being held hostage by some misguided criminal-minded persons with little or no knowledge of the religion (Islam), they cite as excuse to reign terror on law-abiding citizens.
Atiku Abubakar further acknowledged the contributions of Sheikh Ahmed at bringing about peace through purposeful leadership.
He said that the cleric will be remembered for his leadership and enormous wisdom with which he deployed in steering the affairs of the Council for Shariah.
According to Atiku Abubakar, as a man of peace and a firm believer of the philosophy of “Live and Let’s Live”, Sheikh Ahmed Datti did his best possible to stay uncontroversial all through his years.
More importantly, he never allowed himself to be dragged into matters capable of disrupting the fragile peace we enjoy as a multi-religious and multi-ethnic society.
In expressing his deepest condolences to the immediate family, the Muslim Ummah in general, and the government of Kano State, the Waziri of Adamawa, urged them to honour him by remembering the good and exemplary life he lived.
He prayed that Allah should give his family, the Muslim Ummah and those deeply touched by his passing, the fortitude to bear the loss and the strength to carry on with the good work associated with him.
