Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker and social critic in Nigeria, claims that Governor Nyesom Wike and the G5 governors are playing hard to gain ahead of the presidential election.

Sani added that the voters may already be set on their favored choices, making their endorsement soon useless.

On Tuesday, he posted the declaration using his verified Twitter account.

Recall that the G5 Governors and Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential nominee, have been involved in a political conflict over control of the party.

They thus declined to publicly back him in the upcoming presidential election.

Even though the group of five governors had stated they would do so in January, no announcement has yet been made.

Meanwhile, Sani says the clock is ticking, noting that their endorsement might not matter after all.

He wrote, “The G5 have been playing hard to get. The clock is ticking. When the masses they control have made up their mind, endorsement will be irrelevant.”
