The Omu-Aran Social Club has completed and handed over the Ogbo Grammar School Multi-purpose Hall built for the benefit of the school.

Handing over the project on Tuesday at the school premises, the President of Omu-Aran Social Club, Amb. Niyi Abioye, said the completion of the 200 seating capacity hall was built to further improve the standard of education in the community.

He urged members of the community to emulate the gesture of the club and give back to the society from what it had offered them.

He said initially, the project was planned for N25 million, but the present reality later jerked up the completion figure.

Abioye, who is Nigeria’s current ambassador to Pakistan, reminded the gathering that the Club was always supporting the community, including the donation of hospital equipment to the General Hospital, Omu-Aran.

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, while congratulating the club for the completion of the project, said it has continued to take the front seat in the development of the ancient city.

He thanked the club for the gesture and challenged other well to do individuals and organisations in the area to contribute to the development of the town.

In their separate goodwill messages, two of the past Presidents of Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA), Mr Bisi Oyinloye and Chief Bisi Adeyemi, thanked the club for giving back to the community that made them.

Speaking on behalf of the Olomu-in-Council, the Eesa of Omu-Aran, Chief Kunle Oyinloye, said he grew learning how to give back to the society from some of the members of the Omu-Aran Social Club.

Oyinloye also thanked members of the club for helping to develop the education sector in the community and expressed delight at the project.

In his goodwill message, the former governor of Osun and Bauchi States, retired Col. Theophilus Bamigboye, said the Omu-Aran Social Club has challenged his club.

He promised that his club would come up with bigger projects than what the Omu-Aran Social Club had done, even though the Olomu of Omu-Aran had said the social club is the first and the best in the community.

The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Council of Kwara, Mr Jide Oyinloye, who is also the Secretary of the ODA, said the club has always taken the lead while others follow, pledgeing that his office will continue to support the club.

The President of the ODA, retired Maj-Gen. Lasisi Abidoye, while receiving the keys to the Multi-purpose Hall, pledged to ensure judicious use and high taste maintenance culture of the project.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by several eminent indigines of Omu-Aran at home and in Diaspora as well as people from all walks of life.
