Baker Hughes Nig. Ltd, a multi-national oil servicing company, has donated multi-million naira laboratory equipment to the Department of Petroleum Engineering, University of Benin.
The donation was announced in a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the university on Friday.
The company’s Team Leader, Geoservices, Mr Ndokwe Chidi Ndokwe, while handing over the equipment, said that the gesture was to bridge the industry/academia gap in training students of the department.
Ndokwe added that the gesture was in fulfilment of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility.
Receiving the donation, UNIBEN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami, lauded the company for the donation which, she said, would aid teaching and learning.
Salami said that the university was committed to effective teaching and learning to enable its students to compete favourably with their counterparts globally.
The vice-chancellor called on other public-spirited organisations to emulate the gesture.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the equipment include sand content kit, pH meter, water analysis kit, retorts kit and hydrometer.
