The chairman, Governors Mandate Network (GMN), Earl Osaro Onaiwu has congratulated Nigerians on this year’s historic democracy day.
“I want to specially congratulate Nigerians on this year’s historic democracy day celebration. It is historic because it is the democracy day preceding the election year, an election which will determine the trajectory Nigeria and Nigerians move with into the future”, Onaiwu said.
Earl Onaiwu stressed the very strategic role the governors are saddled with in the course of a democratic setting, adding that the governors, as the zonal commanders of democracy, are tasked with the onerous task of protecting and preserving democracy.
“Our governors are the field and zonal commanders of our nascent democracy, I, therefore, task them to take on the job of protecting and preserving our democracy which has to be anchored on the rule of law, bearing in mind that for any democracy to thrive, it has to be on the tripod stand of justice, fairness and equity.
“It is on this note that I like to once again, congratulate Nigerians for witnessing this year’s historic democracy day” Earl Osaro Onaiwu concluded.
