Embattled National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu has asked accredited journalists covering the party activities at the national secretariat in Abuja to vacate the office premises immediately.
A security personnel at the secretariat told journalists that Adamu was coming back for a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) and he would not want to see anybody at the secretariat, including journalists.
“The chairman is coming back and he doesn’t want to see anybody here including journalists,” he said.
This is coming barely an hour after other members of the party’s NWC distanced themselves from Adamu on his endorsement of Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus presidential candidate.
Adamu told the NWC members that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari has, however, denied endorsing any aspirant, saying that there won’t be imposition of candidate.
The NWC members led by APC national organising secretary, Suleiman Argungu, told journalists that the NWC stands by the position taken by northern governors that the South should be allowed to produce the next president of Nigeria.
