Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate and running mate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), paid a visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, at his palace on Monday.
Accompanied by Sokoto governorship candidate Dr. Shamsu Haido and other party members, the duo formally briefed the traditional ruler on their 2027 election ambitions and sought his blessings.
During the meeting, the Sultan advised politicians across all parties to keep their activities peaceful and focus on presenting their plans to the public without resorting to insults or inflammatory language.
He reminded the leaders that political positions are temporary, making national unity and stability far more important, and urged them to set a good example for their supporters throughout the campaign season.
Obi expressed appreciation to the Sultan for the warm reception before the delegation continued their political tour.
