UNIBEN Wins Case on Land Dispute with Uteh Community

UNIBEN

The University of Benin has dissociated its staff and students from the violent clash that occurred just outside the main gate of its Ugbowo Campus, describing the incident as unrelated to activities within the institution.

In a statement issued by the university’s spokesperson, Benedicta Ehanire, the institution said preliminary findings indicated that the incident stemmed from cult-related activities outside the campus environment.

“Preliminary reports indicate that the said incident is a fallout of cult activities outside the campus and does not involve any University staff or student,” the statement said.

The university, while expressing sadness over the loss of lives recorded during the clash, urged members of its community to remain vigilant and go about their academic activities on campus peacefully.
