The Borno State Police Command has laid to rest four gallant officers who paid the supreme price in the recent foiled terrorist attack in Nganzai council area of the state.

The deceased officers are: Inspector Samuel Ezekiel of Nganzai Division, Inspector Sanusi Mohammed of 58 PMF Lafiya, Constable Bitrus Luka of Crack Squad BRS, and Constable Shaibu Bukar of Crack Squad BRS.

The solemn interment ceremony took place yesterday at the Kawar maila and the Maximum Prison Burial Ground, simultaneously in accordance with religious rites.

Present to honour the memory and service of the four officers were the Commissioner of Police (CP) Borno State Command, Naziru Abdulmajid, the Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, (ACP) Jawi Mohammed, alongside other members of the Command’s management team.

Funeral rites were conducted by officers of the Command Chaplaincies, CSP Bukar Gajibo (Imam) and CSP Theophilus Mutum (Chaplain), who offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes.

A release by the spokesman of the command Nahum Daso stated that the Command honoured their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to duty.

The Borno State Police command has been a major target of insurgents since 2009 when their lingering violence perpetuated against residents reached a high pitch crescendo.
