Nigerian Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, was teary during a live performance following the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Ogogo died on Sunday evening after battling cancer, triggering an outpouring of tributes from Nigerians, including celebrities and political figures.
KWAM 1 was performing at the Mushin 30th Anniversary Celebration when he received news of the actor’s death.
A video from the event, which has since gone viral on social media, showed the Fuji icon visibly shaken as he struggled to contain his emotions.
The musician was subsequently consoled by one of his associates on stage as he mourned the late actor.
Ogogo, a prominent figure in Yoruba-language Nollywood, died days after his daughters publicly appealed for medical assistance as he battled stage-four cancer.
His death has continued to generate tributes from actors, musicians, politicians and fans, who have celebrated his contributions to Yoruba cinema and the wider Nigerian entertainment industry.
