Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, has received the newly elected and inaugurated leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) during a courtesy visit focused on the welfare of Nigerian students and national development.

The NANS delegation paid homage to the former governor in an interactive meeting where issues concerning education, youth empowerment, and the future of Nigerian students were discussed.

During the engagement, Alhaji Bello commended NANS for its continued commitment to protecting the interests and welfare of students across the country. He urged Nigerian students to remain united and serve as ambassadors of peace, patriotism, and responsible leadership.

The former governor emphasised that the welfare of students should remain a priority for governments and other stakeholders. He encouraged the NANS leadership to continue advocating for policies and initiatives that promote access to quality education, youth development, and improved living conditions for students nationwide.

Speaking on national development, Alhaji Bello called on Nigerian students to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He expressed confidence that sustained support for the government would help create greater opportunities and contribute to the progress of Nigerian youths and the country.

The visit further strengthened the relationship between NANS and key national stakeholders, while reaffirming the association’s commitment to collaboration in advancing the interests of Nigerian students and promoting national unity.

NANS President, Comrade Akinteye Akintunde Babatunde, assured the former governor of the association’s continued support for the administration of President Tinubu, citing ongoing efforts in the education sector and infrastructure development.

Also speaking, NANS National Treasurer, Comrade Asmawu Idris Omeiza, praised Alhaji Bello’s administration in Kogi State, particularly highlighting the establishment of two universities, specialist hospitals, schools, road networks, and youth appointments during his tenure.

Omeiza, who is the first person of Ebira extraction to be elected into the NANS Executive Council in over two decades, pledged to represent the Ebira people, Kogi State, Nasarawa State University Keffi, and Nigeria at large with integrity throughout his tenure.
