Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has received the endorsement of several former political appointees who served under the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, following what they described as the governor’s visible development efforts across the state.
The endorsement came during a visit by members of the Edo Women Ambassadors for Renewed Hope Agenda (EWARHA) to the Government House in Benin City, where they pledged support for Governor Okpebholo’s administration, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The delegation included former Special Adviser on Strategy, Policy, Projects and Performance Management, Mrs. Sera Esangbedo Ajose-Adeogun; former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Oise Momoh Omorogbe; and Mrs. Queen Obaseki, among other former appointees of the immediate past administration.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Mrs. Philomena Ihenyen said the organisation, which comprises more than 78 professional women across Edo State, was inspired by the governor’s performance and commitment to delivering development projects.
According to her, members of the group, many of whom are non-partisan, have become interested in the APC due to Governor Okpebholo’s governance style and visible infrastructural projects across the state.
She noted that the group plans to expand its activities across the three senatorial districts of Edo State and mobilise support for the administration and the APC ahead of future elections.
Responding, Governor Okpebholo thanked the women for their support and assured them that his administration would remain focused on delivering meaningful development and improving the welfare of Edo people.
The governor said ongoing road construction projects across the state are aimed at improving connectivity, opening up rural communities and enhancing economic activities.
He also attributed the increased capacity of state governments to execute projects to the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy.
According to him, while reforms may be challenging, they remain necessary for long-term growth, development and national prosperity.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders to advance the development of Edo State and deliver the dividends of democracy to residents.
