The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Edo-born Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, describing his passing as a painful loss to the state and the nation.

Braimah, commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, was reportedly killed last Thursday following a deadly midnight assault on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State, by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters.

In a condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Ebojele, Okpebholo described the fallen general as a disciplined and patriotic officer who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria, noting that his sacrifice reflected uncommon courage and commitment to national unity.

“This loss is not only felt by the Nigerian Army but also by Edo State and the country as a whole. While we mourn, we are also proud of the life he lived and the service he gave,” the governor said.

Governor Okpebholo praised the late officer’s sense of duty, adding that he remained committed to the peace and stability of the country until his final moments.

He extended condolences to the family of the deceased, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all Nigerians mourning the loss, urging them to take solace in the legacy he left behind.

“Rest on, brave son of Edo State. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten,” the governor added.
