Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, classified Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as an International Terrorist.
The court reached this conclusion based on evidence showing that Kanu expressed intent to bomb the British High Commission in Nigeria.
Justice Omotosho further stated that Mr. Kanu also threatened to kill the then British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing, acts which elevate the charges beyond domestic terrorism.
By targeting foreign diplomatic missions and officials, the court held that Mr. Kanu’s conduct falls squarely within the scope of international terrorism, as defined under Nigerian and global counter-terrorism frameworks.
