Edo 1st Flyover Bridge Reaches 60 Percent Completion, as Gov Okpebholo Intensifies Project Supervision

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpeholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the prudent and effective use of public resources, as the construction of the first-ever flyover in Edo State at Ramat Park reaches 60 percent completion.

During project inspection at the Ramat Park construction site in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and assured residents that the funds allocated to the State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-administration are being put to good use in delivering meaningful and people-oriented infrastructure.

Governor Okpebholo said: “This is the project we are doing with the money given to us by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and it shows the Renewed administration of Renewed Hope Agenda is working. We will continue to support the contractors and ensure that they deliver the quality project to improve the lives of Edo people.

“The money is working for Edo people. We want the project completed at a record time to show Edo people the difference between the PDP and the APC, which is a progressive party. We are leaving here to inspect other project sites in the State. We must work for Edo people because we are elected to do so.”

The inspection began from Uteh Road, passed through Palace Road and Upper Mission Extension, and climaxed at the Ramat Park Flyover.

Cheered on by residents, traders, and commuters along the route, the Governor made several stops to inspect side drains and sought clarifications on technical grey areas.

Providing technical insight, Special Adviser on Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Mrs Phoebe Bello Williams disclosed that 60 percent of the work has already been completed, with the contractor set to deliver the project ahead of schedule.

“This flyover project was awarded since December to last for 18 months. But from the work progress, the contractor will be delivering the project in 14 months. They have completed one of the abortment and have launched the beam on one side. We are waiting for the weather to be good to start the second abortment.

“We have started the retaining walls for the sholder, when the projects is done we will be having three lanes here, including the sholder, access convert to carry drainage which is ongoing and by the end of the raining season the pavement work will start as the contractor is doing well with 60 per cent work already done.”

The Ramat Park Flyover stands as a landmark development being the first flyover ever constructed in Edo State and is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and uplift the infrastructure profile of Benin City and its environs.
