Investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo has shared a story about the threat posed by Nigerian police officers.

This is as he noted that men of the Nigerian police force are no different from Boko Haram if you strip them of their uniform.

Soyombo said this on X, while revealing the threat police officers attached to the Ikeja police command in Lagos state allegedly made during assaul on a journalist.

Soyombo wrote:

‘’If the officers of the Ikeja @PoliceNG

Command can tell a journalist while assaulting him: “I will cut off your neck now… you will die here, and the autopsy will show asthma killed you — not police brutality”, only God knows what they do to other civilians behind closed doors.

Despite all the learnings they should have taken from 2020 #EndSARS, the police continue to terrorise Nigerians every day, and for this reason the police in my eyes are no different from any other terrorist group.

They’re no different from Boko Haram, bandits, IPOB or herdsmen if you strip them of their uniforms and their constitutional backing. A stench-filled institution from the very top to its bottom!”
