Okpebholo Takes Action to Stop Post-harvest Losses Among Pineapple Farmers in Edo

The Governor will provide cold storage facilities that would help pineapple farmers preserve their crops after harvest, before being sold.

The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has taken strategic steps to put an end to post-harvest losses among pineapple farmers in the State.

This was disclosed by Mr. Golden Ugbodu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Security, during an on-the-spot visit to Urohi-Ekpoma to meet with local farmers.

The Special Adviser told the farmers about steps taken so far by the Governor to partner with a private firm, to provide cold storage facilities that would help pineapple farmers preserve their crops after harvest, before being sold.

According to him, this would put an end to post harvest losses, and enable farmers in the state make maximum profits from their crops.

The Special Adviser also informed the farmers of Governor Okpebholo’s plan to construct rural access roads that would make it easier for them to transport their crops from farms to markets.

In addion, he also talked about the newly purchased tractors by the Governor, which are intended to assist small holder farmers upscale their farmlands.

Farmers at the meeting were overjoyed, and thanked the Governor for coming to their aid.
