The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Uzochukwu Ugomadu in connection with the recent explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) at a CCTV camera store on Kodesho Street, Ikeja.

Ugomadu, 20-year-old male who hails from Abia State was reportedly picked up at about 12pm on April 15 at his hideout located at No. 5 Fasoya Street, Mile 12, Ketu-Ikorodu Road.

According to SaharaReporters, it was reported on April 12, that the Lagos State Police Command had launched an investigation into an explosion that rocked a CCTV dealer’s shop on Kodesho Street, near the popular Computer Village in Ikeja.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State, who confirmed the incident and provided details in a statement, explained that the incident occurred last Friday, sending shockwaves through the commercial area.

However, in a report Zagazola Makama, a security and counter intelligence expert shared on its X handle on Saturday, said that Ugomadu acted as an intermediary in the movement of the explosive device, citing police.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that he received a carton containing the IED from a man identified only as Prince now at large at Fort Betnaija Limited, Mile 12, Ketu Road.

“He subsequently delivered the package to another individual known simply as Frank, who is also currently at large. Frank is alleged to have planted the explosive device at the CCTV shop, and his image was captured by the store’s security camera system,” Makama claimed.
