Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has rubbished reports about running for presidency in 2027.

He stated that his priority remains fulfilling the mandate given to him by the people of Oyo State.

Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), addressed the rumours during an interview with Nigerian Tribune.

When asked about his interest in contesting for the presidential ticket of the PDP, possibly challenging President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Makinde said his attention is fully on his current role.

The governor emphasized that he is focused on completing the tasks at hand in Oyo State.

“My focus at the moment is the big work that the people of Oyo State gave me,” Makinde stated. “I have done some work, but I still have quite a lot to do.”

Makinde clarified that he is not considering a presidential run in 2027.

He said, “I have a big work that the people of Oyo State have given to me. I have done some and still have quite a lot to do. My focus is not to become president in 2027, but to deliver on the mandate given to me by Oyo State people.”
