Corporal Juliet Chukwu of the Nigeria Police Force has earned international recognition for the country by winning the Bantamweight Championship title at the renowned Extreme Fighting Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The championship, which featured top fighters from around the world, saw Chukwu deliver a stunning performance, showcasing exceptional skill, discipline, and determination.

In a statement on Saturday, the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated Chukwu on her achievement, describing it as a reflection of the Force’s commitment to excellence not only in policing but also in sports.

“This victory is not just a win for Corporal Juliet Chukwu, but a win for the entire Nigeria Police Force and the nation. It is proof that our officers are capable of excelling in all spheres of life,” the IGP said in the statement.

Adejobi added that the IGP has been at the forefront of promoting sports within the Force, with a particular focus on Mixed Martial Arts.

“Under his leadership, the Force has introduced MMA as an official sport, established the Nigeria Police MMA Association, and organised the maiden IGP MMA Open National Championship. The sport is set to make its debut at the 14th Biennial Police Games in Oluyole, Oyo State, next year.

“Chukwu’s win adds to the growing list of accomplishments by the Force in recent years, ranging from advancements in crime prevention to efforts in organizational reform and personnel development,” Adejobi added.

Adejobi said IGP reaffirmed the NPF’s commitment to supporting its athletes and creating opportunities for officers to excel in various fields.

He said, “The IGP has stated that the NPF will continue to support Corporal Juliet Chukwu and all police athletes on their journey to greatness, as the Force would keep on aiming to achieve more honours in several other areas. Throughout the year, the Nigeria Police Force has recorded notable achievements.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to organizational development and success, with several programs and initiatives emplaced towards this goal, even in the area of sports. The Force is dedicated to nurturing talent and fostering an environment that encourages excellence for its officers in all endeavours.”
