U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has made a promise to impose high import tariffs on all goods from Mexico and Canada.

He also stated that the same will be for China.

Trump stated this on Truth Social, the social media platform he co-founded, adding that he would sign an executive order to that effect on his first day in office.

According to him, the tariff would remain in place until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country.

“On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25 per cent Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders.

“Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long-simmering problem,” Trump said.

“We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price,” he said.

The president-elect also said that additional tariffs of 10 per cent are to apply to goods from China until drugs stop pouring into our country, mostly through Mexico.

Meanwhile, Canada has reacted after incoming US President, Donald Trump threatened to impose high tarriffs on the country.

Reacting, Canada stressed its importance to the United States.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, and Canada’s Public Safety Minister, Dominic LeBlanc, made this known in a joint statement on Tuesday.

“Canada and the United States have one of the strongest and closest relationships, particularly when it comes to trade and border security,”

“Canada places the highest priority on border security and the integrity of our shared border,” they said.

The ministers noted that Canada is essential to the U.S. domestic energy supply, explaining that 60 percent of U.S. crude oil imports last year came from Canada.

The statement also highlighted the cooperation between Canadian and U.S. law enforcement to disrupt the scourge of the fentanyl coming from China and other countries.

They added that the country will of course continue to discuss critical issues with the incoming administration.

However, they did not specifically mention Trump’s announcement from a couple of hours earlier.
