As Nigeria prepares to join the global community at COP29, The Made in Nigeria Project office under the office of the secretary to the government of the Federation (OSGF) has confirmed that the country’s pavilion and exhibition stand will highlight innovative solutions, policies, and initiatives that demonstrate the country’s commitment to climate resilience and sustainable development at the upcoming World Climate Change Summit scheduled in Baku Azerbaijan from the 11th – 22nd of November, 2024.
While addressing Journalists and civil society organizations at a press conference on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Lagos, the National Coordinator, of The Made in Nigeria Project, Nwabueze George spoke at length on the Made in Nigeria project office goal, mission, and vision of marketing Nigeria to the world in line with the mandate of climate change principles.
George said that the objectives of Nigeria’s participation is to showcase Nigerian-made climate-friendly technologies and innovations, promote international partnerships and collaborations, demonstrate Nigeria’s progress towards achieving the Paris Agreement goals, and foster knowledge sharing and expertise among Nigerian stakeholders.
He said that Nigeria’s exhibition stand will feature; interactive sessions with Nigerian climate experts and policymakers, a display of Nigerian climate-friendly products and services, community-led climate initiatives, and art and cultural exhibitions highlighting climate change impacts.
George however urged stakeholders including state government, private sector, and all climate innovators to apply for the limited space at Nigeria’s pavilion and exhibition stand at COP29 taking place from November 11 to 22, 2024.
“Let us work together to promote climate action, sustainable development, and a greener future for Nigeria and the world.”
George also noted that Made in Nigeria is not all about climate change, it is all about how showcasing and exhibiting all other things we can get in Nigeria, it is an avenue to showcase and promote our indigenous products.
In his remarks, Mr Oladunjoye Musiliu, Director, of the International Organization Department (IOD), Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), stated that “Nigeria’s pavilion and exhibition stand will showcase innovative solutions, policies, and initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to climate resilience and sustainable development.
“The Green Zone of COP29 will feature interactive sessions with Nigerian climate experts and policymakers, display of Nigerian climate-friendly products and services, community-led climate initiatives as well as arts and cultural exhibitions highlighting climate change impacts.”
Speaking in the same light, Barr. Titi Akosa, Lagos State Coordinator, Made In Nigeria Project Office, and also the Executive Director, Centre for 21st Century Issues stated that successful candidates will get two weeks of accreditation to attend COP 29 activities as well as a free visa.
She stated that the pavilion will include a panel discussion, a workshop, and exhibit projects, research, and inventions.
She mentioned that exhibitors will be able to showcase their organization’s work and accomplishments while networking with guests and possible partners.
Akosa noted that the chance is accessible to organisations, businesses, and people working on climate-related initiatives, with emphasis given to Nigerian companies.
