Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary Manchester United manager, has been banned from the club’s dressing room.
According to Mail Sport, the board has also been ordered to avoid the dressing room at Old Trafford.
It deviates from a long-standing tradition dating back to Sir Matt Busby’s time.
Earlier on Tuesday, it was revealed that Ferguson’s multi-million pound ambassadorial role had been axed by United’s new part owner, INEOS, as part of a broad cost-cutting drive.
Ferguson, the club’s most successful manager, will no longer be allowed to enter the inner sanctum after games as part of a policy change.
United maintain that Ferguson has been explicitly barred from entering the changing room.
They claim there is now a “collective understanding” about who can enter.
