Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima has expressed sadness over the passing of the 16th Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammad Ɗanyaya, describing his death as a significant loss to the nation.
Leading a delegation on a condolence visit to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed on Friday, Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s condolences to the government and the people of Bauchi State.
According to reports, the late emir passed on at 88. The first-class traditional ruler died at the Expert Alliance Hospital, Kano, just two days after returning from a medical trip to Mecca on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Speaking at the Government House Council Chamber, Vice President Shettima conveyed President Tinubu’s condolence message to the people of the Ningi Emirates.
The VP commended the late Emir’s significant contributions to the development of both Bauchi State and Nigeria at large, stating the crucial role the late emir played in fostering national unity.
He described him as a pillar of peace and stability who worked diligently for the advancement of Bauchi State and beyond.
Shettima also acknowledged the emir’s dedication to education, healthcare, and economic progress, calling him a champion of progress and a source of hope for his people.
Responding, Governor Mohammed expressed his appreciation to President Tinubu and the Vice President for the visit.
The governor described the late emir as a revered leader, a symbol of unity, and a father figure to all in the state, adding that the late Emir’s wisdom and leadership skills will be sorely missed.
