President Bola Tinubu expressed deep sadness on Wednesday after learning of the destruction caused by floods in communities and farmlands across the country.

According to recent statistics from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), floods have claimed lives, devastated hundreds of hectares of crops, and displaced thousands of people across the country.

The President also expressed his heartfelt condolences to all victims of nature’s wrath, particularly deceased families, farmers, displaced communities, and property owners.

He re-emphasised the need for a concerted effort to address existential environmental concerns and build a more climate-resilient and adaptive society.

“The President prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased while assuring Nigerians that his administration, through the relevant agencies, will continue to provide the needed support for victims, as well as timely warnings to mitigate the impact of environmental mishaps,” a statement by Tinubu’s media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, noted.
