Senator Dino Melaye, a former gubernatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the previous Kogi State election, has warned security personnel against mistreating demonstrators.
According to reports, some Nigerian youngsters protesting the exorbitant cost of living in Nigeria have been manhandled by police and other security personnel.
Some protestors were allegedly killed in Kano State on Saturday after the EndBadGovernance rally became violent.
Speaking on the matter, Dino Melaye in a post on X microblogging platform, expressed dissatisfaction in the security officers.
He urged the operatives to rescind from such duties, stressing that the economic downturn was affecting everyone, including them.
The post reads, “We all go to the same market, same filling station, spend the same naira, police and other security agencies have no special market or special filling station.
“Treat the people with respect. After all, they are your cousins, brother, sister, sons, or relatives”.
