The immediate-past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu has expressed sadness over the death of Hon. Ekene Adams, Chairman, House Committee on Sports at the House of Representatives.
Ekene, who passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness at age 39, was until his death, member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State.
In a condolence message he personally signed, the Sports-loving DG, as he is fondly called, described Adams’ demise at the young age of 39 as a profound loss to the Nation, particularly the sports community, being an astute sports administrator.
Shaibu said, “As a sportsman and former professional footballer myself, I share in the grief of all sports lovers and various sports groups across the country.
“Adams’ contributions to the development of Nigerian football, including his tenure as General Manager of the Kada City Football Club and Remo Stars, will be sorely missed.
“My heartfelt condolences go out to my former colleagues at the House of Representatives, the people of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, the Government and people of Kaduna State, and his immediate family. May they find solace in the fond memories of his life and legacy.
“Rest in peace, Hon. Ekene Adams. Your passion for sports and service to the Nation will never be forgotten.”
