Joe Igbokwe, a Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, has stated that Nigeria owes the Southeast one state.
Igbokwe was responding to increased calls for the formation of more states in the southeast.
Posting on his Facebook, the APC chieftain wrote: “Nigeria is still owing the Southeast additional one state and one governor.”
Igbokwe’s remark comes as the bill seeking to create Adada State passed its first reading in the Senate on Tuesday.
The bill, which has been cited as the “Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Alteration) Bill, 2024 (SB. 482)” was sponsored by the lawmaker representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Senator Okey Ezea.
