The Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday adjourned a case against famous bartender Pascal Okechukwu (Cubana Chief Priest) for suspected Naira abuse till June 25.
On April 17, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged Okechukwu with three counts of allegedly spraying and tampering with Naira notes during a social event at the Eko Hotel in Lagos.
He pleaded not guilty to the allegations and was granted bail of N10 million.
At the most recent adjournment, on May 2, defense counsel Mr Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN) informed the court that the parties were exploring settlement and had requested that the issue be handled by Section 14(2) of the EFCC Act.
Following the position, defence counsel asked for the removal of the preliminary objection, which the court approved because the prosecution had not objected.
As a result, the court deferred the case until June 5 (today) to receive a settlement report.
However, on Wednesday, news outlets reported that the defense had sent a letter requesting an adjournment of the case.
The matter is now scheduled for mention on June 25.
