The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has urged the Bola Tinubu government to unite with the concerns of organized labour.
In a statement issued over the weekend by its president, Pedro Obi, NANS expressed sympathy with labor unions in their appeal for an increase in the national minimum wage.
While emphasizing present economic difficulty, the student body stated that the NLC demand is legitimate.
The statement reads: “We urge the Federal Government to respond promptly and favourably to the legitimate demands of Nigerian workers.
“The current economic realities have significantly eroded the purchasing power of the average Nigerian worker. Inflation, the rising cost of living, and the continuous devaluation of the naira have made it increasingly difficult for many families to meet their basic needs.”
