Senator Ahmad Lawan, President of the 9th Senate, has urged military officials to conduct an early investigation into the death of three innocent citizens by troops in Gashu’a, the seat of Yobe State’s Bade local government.

The former Senate President made the appeal in a statement he personally signed on Sunday, in response to the unfortunate tragedy.

Lawan, who presently leads the Senate Committee on Defence, stated that the Nigerian Army must make measures to guarantee that the perpetrators of violence are held accountable and responsible for their conduct.

“Gashua community has always been a peaceful place with calm people, who always give support and cooperate with the military, paramilitary, and indeed all government agents operating in the town”, he said.

He further appealed to residents for calm, while assuring that he has already spoken with military authorities to ensure that those responsible were apprehended and dealt with according to the law.

He emphasised that justice would be served.

The lawmaker condoled with the families that lost their loved ones during the tragic incident.
