A lecturer of the Department of Physical and Health Education at the University of Maiduguri has been murdered by unidentified assailants.
The late lecturer Dr. Kamal Abdulkadir, was gruesomely murdered in his office at the university’s main campus on Sunday.
According to one of sources in the campus, the assailants also took away his vehicle after murdering him.
When contacted, University public relations officer Prof Danjuma Gambo said that the institution was aware of the murder and was awaiting the police to conclude its investigations.
As at the time of writing this report, the office of the lecturer had become a crime scene and security personnel were seen on the watch.
However, the spokesperson of the Nigerian police Nahum Daso in a chat with newsmen confirmed that they were on top of the incident.
He also said that the investigation is ongoing, after which details will be made available to the general public.
He however Confirmed that eight suspects have been arrested concerning the murder of Dr. Abdulkadir Kamal.
He noted that upon receiving the details of the incident, their detectives swung into action and arrested eight suspects in connection with the murder.
The command on receipt of a distress call on the murder of Dr. Kamal, has confirmed that he was murdered in his office and his car stolen by the assailants.
