Senator Abdul Ningi was suspended for three months by the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday after alleging that the Federal Government was functioning on two budgets.

The suspension came when Senator Jimoh Ibrahim amended his prayers to Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan’s motion, which took hours to discuss.

Ningi gave an interview on Monday last week, claiming that the value of N3.7 trillion could not be tracked to projects.

Following a heated argument on Tuesday, Senator Ekpeyong Asuquo of the Cross River South Senatorial District revised a prayer by moving that he be suspended for six months.

However, Senator AbdulRahid Mallam Maidori of Jigawa proposed a one-month ban.

In his remarks, the Senate President maintained the three-month punishment after putting the requested prayers to a voice vote, and Ningi was suspended for six months.
