The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) has urged the Osun State Government to ensure that the teachers’ recruitment process is conducted in a transparent, timely and merit-based manner, devoid of any form of nepotism or favouritism.
This is coming after the Osun State Executive Council on Wednesday approved the immediate recruitment of 5000 teachers and 250 education officers to fill vacancies in the state teaching service.
Reacting to the development in a statement on Thursday signed by the National President of NAOSS, Akinnibi Miftau commended the state government for the recruitment exercise.
He said, “the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) NHQ, led by Comr. AKINNIBI Miftahu, with the Slogan ‘Epoch of Excellence’ uses this medium to extend our heartfelt commendation to the Osun State Government for its recent decision to approve the recruitment of 5000 teachers in the state.
“This initiative reflects a proactive approach towards addressing the critical need for quality education and human resource development in our dear state.
“The approval of this recruitment demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing education as a fundamental pillar of societal development. By investing in the recruitment of qualified teachers, the government is not only enhancing the quality of education but also ensuring that our students receive the necessary support and guidance to excel academically.
“Furthermore, this decision aligns with the government’s vision of fostering a conducive learning environment that empowers our youth with the knowledge and skills required to compete effectively in the global arena. It underscores the recognition of education as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation and empowerment.
“The recruitment of 5000 teachers will not only address the existing shortfall in teaching staff but also contribute significantly to reducing the teacher-to-student ratio in our schools. This, in turn, will facilitate personalized attention to students, thereby enhancing their learning outcomes and overall educational experience.
“Moreover, by prioritizing the recruitment of teachers, the government is also creating employment opportunities for qualified individuals within our communities.
“This initiative will not only alleviate unemployment but also stimulate economic growth and social stability across the state.
“We applaud the government’s inclusive approach to involving relevant stakeholders, including educational institutions and professional bodies, in the recruitment process.
“This collaborative effort ensures transparency, fairness, and meritocracy in the selection of candidates, ultimately enhancing the quality of education delivery in Osun State.
“Furthermore, we urge the government to ensure that the recruitment process is conducted in a transparent, timely, and merit-based manner, devoid of any form of nepotism or favouritism. The best-qualified candidates must be selected based on their academic qualifications, teaching experience, and passion for imparting knowledge.
“As stakeholders in the educational sector, we pledge our support to the government in its efforts to revitalize and transform the education system in Osun State. We recognize the pivotal role of education in shaping the future of our state and commit to actively collaborating with the government towards achieving our shared goals of educational excellence and human capital development.
“In conclusion, we once again commend the Osun State Government for its visionary leadership and proactive steps towards improving the quality of education in the state. The approval of the recruitment of 5000 teachers is a testament to the government’s commitment to building a prosperous and knowledge-driven society for the benefit of all citizens.”
