Erstwhile Director, Operations at the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, is dead. He was aged 64 years. He was said to be watching the live match between Nigeria and South Africa yesterday.
According snippet gathered by metrowatchxtra.com, Ojougboh, who was a former House of Representatives member under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), slumped in the course of the match when a penalty was awarded against Nigeria; that penalty brought the South Africa team to levels with Nigeria. “Dr. Ojougboh was reported to have screamed, and then collapsed. Sadly, he passed on”, the snippet also revealed.
Born September 8, 1959 in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State, Ojougboh, before his death, was a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was, among other titles, the Akinuwa of Agbor Kingdom. Ojougboh was a medical doctor turned politician and businessman.
Those close to hime say “his high sense of duty and commitment to results made him treat issues with the required dispatch. He was also a man with excellent public relations and communication skills; a man capable of establishing positive and productive rapport with people, to move things forward. He was a man with ability to maintain steady grace under intense pressure as well as being ever willing to learn”.
He was Chairman and founder, Ojougboh Foundation which sponsors small scale business and thousands of indigenes of Ika Federal Constituency had benefited from the foundation.
The Foundation has donated generously to Churches including completing All Saints Catholic Church Alihami, Agbor and donated a Conference Hall to the same Church. Over 70 students enjoy scholarship from the foundation.
