Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has tipped Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman to win the best player of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Keyamo said this in a tweet via his X account after Nigeria’s AFCON quarter-final 1-0 win over Angola on Friday.
He wrote on X: “Hard-fought victory, but well deserving. We won because of the individual qualities of our players, especially the quality of that final ball laid to Lookman, who is likely to emerge as the player of the tournament. Go, Super Eagles!!!”
Lookman’s first-half goal sent Nigeria to the semi-final stage of the AFCON.
The Atalanta star has so far scored three goals and provided one assist at the tournament.
The former Leicester City star would surely compete for the best player of the competition if he continues his impressive display and if Nigeria reach the AFCON final.
Big names like Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Cameroon’s Vincent Aboubakar and Ghana’s Mohamed Kudus have all exited the tournament.
