The Supreme Court confirmed previous court decisions validating Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s election in Gombe State.
Jibrin Barde of the People’s Democratic Party protested the election results.
In November 2023, the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld Yahaya’s election as governor.
The appeals court determined that the petitioners failed to show their charges of non-qualification, perjury, and certificate fabrication.
The five-member Supreme Court bench, chaired by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, upheld the lower courts’ concurrent decision on the subject.
She said that there was nothing incorrect with the verdict that required the Supreme Court to intervene.
