The Nigeria Police Force explained why it objected to the 2024 slogan, “no gree for anybody.”

The slogan’s origins are unknown, but Nigerians, especially the younger generation, have taken to it as inspiration to achieve in the new year.

ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, cautioned against using the phrase on Wednesday during a press briefing in Abuja, citing incidents of violence against police officers.

However, internet users fiercely disagreed with his warning, spreading the phrase even further and declaring that “no one can stop them.”

But in a tweet on his official X handle on Thursday night, the Force spokesperson explained that the “Police are in the best position to advise and educate Nigerians on possible early warning signs of an impending danger as a civil and people-oriented institution”.

He further warned that the slogan should not be used to attack security operatives while discharging their duties.

“Do not take the 2024 slogan for granted. Do not abuse the slogan and capitalise on it to be attacking security operatives while discharging their duties.

“Be reasonable with the slogan, sue for, and embrace peace anywhere you find yourself, even at home. It is well with our dear country”, he said.
