Sokoto Govt, Sen. Wamakko Donate N16.6m, Foodstuff to 66 Kidnap Victims | METROWATCH

The Sokoto State government in collaboration with Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto), on Sunday donated N16.6 million cash and essential foodstuff to 66 victims rescued from kidnappers in the state.

Gov. Ahmed Aliyu, addressing the rescued victims in Sokoto, credited the success to the gallant efforts of security agencies working in alignment with the government’s commitment to eradicate all forms of security threats.

“Today marks a significant step in our administration’s mission to combat insecurity, a key focus within our nine-point agenda for Sokoto state.

“We are here to celebrate the various efforts of the service chiefs in rescuing our fellow citizens from bandits,” he stated.

Aliyu commended the dedication of security agencies, assuring them of continued support in fulfilling their constitutional duties.

He pledged relentless efforts to address security challenges, assuring citizens of the administration’s commitment to restoring economic growth.

Highlighting that each victim underwent a medical examination, the governor outlined the support each would receive to include a bag of rice, millet and maize, along with N100,000 cash from the state government.

He announced the proposed Bill for the establishment of Community Security Guards, already approved by the state House of Assembly. emphasising his administration’s proactive approach.

Aliyu urged citizens to continue supporting the government and security agencies through prayers and sharing vital information, fostering a secure environment for a brighter future.

Inaugurating the distribution, Sen. Wamakko announced a personal donation of N10 million for the victims.

He praised the governor’s dedication toward creating a desirable state and congratulated the victims on regaining their freedom.

The leader of the rescue team and Garrison Commander of 8 Division, Nigeria Army, Sokoto, Brig-Gen. Alex Tawasimi, expressed appreciation for the state government’s support to security agencies.

Tawasimi affirmed the commitment to ongoing collaborative efforts, assuring citizens of a joint initiative to maintain a secured and crime-free environment in the state.

Responding on behalf of the victims, Lami Tsalha and Sulaiman S/Noma, appreciated the governor, Sen. Wamakko and the security agencies for ensuring their freedom. (NAN)
