Brazil forward Neymar will not be included in the roster for the Copa América in the United States in 2024.
Rodrigo Lasmar, the national team doctor, verified this on Tuesday.
In October, Neymar had a significant knee injury.
During Brazil’s World Cup qualification loss to Uruguay, the 31-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus, necessitating surgery two weeks later.
The Copa América will begin on June 20 and conclude on July 14.
“It’s too early. There’s no point in skipping steps to recover sooner and taking unnecessary risks.
“We expect that he will be prepared to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe, which is August,” Lasmar told Brazil’s Rede 98.
