Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara spoke strongly on Thursday, saying no amount of purposeful sabotage from some quarters would cause him to renounce the mandate entrusted to him to serve, defend, and promote the state’s fortunes.

On Thursday, Fubara opened the 115th and 116th combined quarterly general meetings of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt. He restated his resolve to serve with humility, purposefulness, and responsibility.

The governor stated, “Although these are trying times, let us not forget that Rivers State is our collective inheritance, presently under my watch, to protect, defend and advance it as the Governor.

“I assure you that I will not fail in this responsibility nor will I surrender our mandate and progress to intimidation, blackmail and deliberate sabotage.

“I reaffirm my earlier statement and recommit myself to the path of peace as there is nothing to gain in a state of needless crisis.”

Fubara stated that extraordinary efforts will be made to boost education, health care, and social services throughout the state, ensuring that no region of the state, even rural areas, falls behind.

The governor stated that the state’s 2024 budget will prioritize and provide adequate money to enable universal access to inexpensive and high-quality education and health-care services in Rivers State.
